Library Services is responsible a range of services provided to staff and students of the University, including the provision of online resources and hard copy library material, photocopiers, IT support, printing, systems for obtaining books and journals from other organisations via inter-library loans, and access to general IT facilities for students. The management team consists of the University Librarian, and section Team Leaders. This post sits within the Hive Front of House team and reports to one of the Hive Duty Managers, who in turn report to the Library Services Manager at the Hive.


These are demanding but exciting roles in The Hive, the UK's first joint public and academic library (run in partnership by the University of Worcester (UW) and Worcestershire County Council (WCC), with the primary role being to support students, members of the public and staff with digital enquiries pertaining to library services and events.


These roles are not based around the University term-time and as such, successful candidates will be able to deliver the service throughout the year, irrespective of the university calendar. The rota hours are flexible to change around educational commitments to the University of Worcester from semester to semester in negotiation with the Library Services Manager. Annual leave will be accrued and taken in accordance with existing allocation guidance within the department, as with any other employed role.


The posts will suit organised, confident individuals who have a real interest in providing excellent customer service and IT support in an innovative environment. The posts will be of specific interest to candidates who have an established understanding in, and aptitude for learning new IT applications and delivering training around IT equipment and software.


The Hive is open from 8.30 am - 10.00 pm 7 days per week, (except for Bank Holidays and including University Closed Days). These posts are for 18.5 hours per week working a regular pattern of hours including a regular commitment to weekend/evening working, for a fixed term of 24 months.

From 1st July 2025, the salary range for this role will increase to 23,749 - 23,961
