Job Description


We are looking for an energetic and resourceful individual who can help us to develop and enhance our digital platforms, including our website and social media accounts. These are critical tools for the Council and its many service users.

You will work with various council teams to enhance our website and social media presence, so that customers can interact with the Council quickly and easily. A key feature of this role will be producing engaging and accessible digital content that helps customers to access online services and key information. You will need to be articulate, creative and take real pride in the work you produce.

About you

The Digital Information Officer will work as part of our Corporate Communications Service and will need to have the following skills and experience:

  • Educated to GCSE level or above, with excellent literacy and a good grasp of information technology
  • Experience of Content Management Systems (CMS) and developing web content. No experience of coding needed.
  • Experience of online communication tools including website and social media.
  • Good written communications skills with an attention to detail and ability to develop engaging content which is easy to read and understand
  • Good customer skills and the ability to use own initiative, as well as working effectively as part of a team
  • Good level of organisational skills and the ability to co-ordinate a range of projects
About the role

Digital platforms like websites and social media accounts are an important source of information about the Council and its services.

Our new Digital Information Officer will play a key role in helping to maintain the councils\' digital estate, including its main website and various microsites - making best use of a content management system (CMS) to deliver engaging and effective online services.

You will be required to work together with internal and external services to develop content for our Rutland Information Service (RIS) webpages, making sure that up-to-date and accurate information is in place to help the Council meet its statutory responsibilities for children, young people, families and adults.

You will be expected to help maintain and develop the Council\'s social media presence, including content development, customer engagement and advertising - all of which helps our residents and service users to find and access the information they need.

We also have internal customers in the form of colleagues who run other Council teams and services. You will therefore be asked to support our internal communications through the development of a new staff intranet, as well as providing advice and guidance that helps services to manage their online information in the right way.

The Digital Information Officer interviews will be held week commencing 18 September 2023. Exact date to be confirmed.
