The IDEA Lab oversees the design, development and delivery of four fully-online postgraduate degree programmes for the Business School, including our flagship Global MBA, Executive MBA, MSc Business Analytics and MSc Strategic Marketing. In total, we deliver over 200 online modules every year, including short-courses and collaborative projects with Executive Education and The Enterprise Lab, and a suite of undergraduate modules for the faculty of Engineering.

The editorial role is part of the core production team overseeing the development of new online modules and digital materials. It is a pivotal role, ensuring our ongoing commitment to developing high-quality content, as we continue to grow our portfolio. You will therefore need to have proven experience of editing and proofreading digital content and feel confident working with new and innovative learning technologies.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Act as a lead Editor, overseeing the quality assurance of online programmes for the School and providing expert guidance on house style and conventions
  • Work closely with the learning design team to create module outlines, develop effective learning outcomes and write clear and concise narrative text
  • Assist in preparing academic video scripts, conceiving interview questions, preparing filming briefs and reviewing video transcripts
  • Support the rollover and preparation of online modules for delivery, including liaising with key stakeholders to manage tasks and resolve queries, scheduling, and maintaining asana boards
  • Coordinate product testing prior to publication
  • Participate in the module review process, writing up evaluation reports and using the results of evaluation exercises to recommend changes and improve delivery to students
  • Contribute to ongoing research projects within the IDEA Lab and lead on areas of technological innovation in teaching.
Essential requirements
  • A successful educational background - First class degree or a Master\'s degree qualification, preferably in the fields of Education, Publishing or English
  • Proven experience of working in Higher Education or digital publishing in an editorial capacity
  • A passion and flair for language and learning with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a meticulous eye for detail
  • Strong collaboration skills and the confidence to correspond effectively with all key stakeholders
  • Strong professional skills in the project management of complex projects relating to online and blended learning
  • Passion for online learning and understanding of digital transformation, pedagogical thought and the wider processes and constraints around online and blended teaching.
