About the role:

We\'re in the market for a Development Support Engineer who embraces and thrives in change. You will have a passion for Service operations, development and customer support.

We always require people to be ambitious, humble, motivated and highly experienced in their craft for this level of role.

What you will do:

  • Resolution of L2 incidents while moving towards a DevSecOps
  • Support the delivery of services ensuring customer satisfaction and success.
  • Work closely with Engineering Leads to shape and deliver defect fixes to customers and thrive as a creative thinker that can break out from conventional solutions
  • Influence team members, encourage engineering practices in accordance with good practice architecture and software engineering patterns and creative thinking to crush expectations
  • Work side-by-side with other talented engineers in a team-oriented, agile software engineering environment
  • Support service documentation ensuring accuracy and detail.
  • Measure quality of service and performance via KPIs; ensuring future demand from growth and projects is understood and factored into plans for all associated systems, including supporting new functionality.
  • Own major incidents, to ensuring coordination of resolving parties, effective communication to stakeholders and post incident reviews.
  • Make recommendations for service improvement plans and ensure actions are followed through to completion in a timely manner.
  • Be part of an on-call rota for major production incidents
  • Developing & Maintaining Service Catalogue standards
  • Evolving Service & Customer focussed KPI\'s
  • Working with wider teams to ensure smooth onboarding of new services into steady state, aligning KPI\'s and SLA
  • Pro-Actively and continuously improving operational processes and standards with a drive for automation
  • Supporting the delivery of our ITSM tooling strategy including: Jira Service Management / Jira / Pager Duty / Service Now etc.
About you:
  • A real drive and passion for IT Service Management and delivery
  • Someone who is not afraid to role up their sleaves and get stuck in.
  • A real team player, willing to support the broader team as needed
  • Passion for challenging the status quo and service improvement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively relate data to stakeholders
  • Strong programming experience in Java(8+) and show a sense of ownership and pride in your code; make us believe you will excel. Experience with testing frameworks JUnit5, Mockito, Spring Integration but not essential.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and written, within all levels of the business and to external parties.
  • Advanced understanding of commercial impact & profitability of service management
  • Experience of a service desk environment, tools and best practice
  • Excellent knowledge of and experience working with of APIs (designing with OpenAPI is desirable) and web services, CI/CD pipelines (Git-lab desirable) and automated testing (BDD, Performance, Security), Kubernetes and cloud native practices, containerized workloads with tools such as Docker
  • Experience developing microservices-based architectures (Spring boot ideally), including distributed messaging patterns is a plus
  • Some database experience is required, we have NoSQL databases as well as relational databases in use often with large data volumes
