Job purpose






This is a role to lead and line manage our team of highly skilled software developers as well as being a key member of the regional technology management team. Our software development team is responsible for the production of payment applications and estate management systems.This role requires someone who will :




Motivate and engage our software development team onshore and offshore. Ensure the team are supported and following best industry standards to create high quality solutions for our customers. Continuously innovate to find ways of improving our delivery Work across departments and as part of the wider management team to enable successful delivery. Act with customers needs at the heart of what you do and handle customers and internal escalations.





This is a hands off coding role but any previous experience of software development and in general the software development lifecycle would be advantageous.




Management Support:




Manager - You will report into a lead who will be your line manager and help support your wider career through individual development plans, 1 to 1s and pastoral care.




Key Responsibilities






The development manager is responsible for supporting the development and wider team in successful deliveries for our customers specifically:




Line Management - Performance management, career development, HR duties and pastoral care of a team of 10 onshore and nearshore developers. Leadership - Motivate your team and act as a wider ambassador for company values and strategy. Hiring - As required by business needs to lead hiring of additions to team and build our reputation as an employer of choice within the market and at universities and colleges. Capability Management - Long term planning of talent succession, cross training and knowledge sharing to remove single points of failure and ensure resilience Demand vs Capacity - Work with delivery and sales team to ensure we have necessary the capacity and skillset within teams and correct allocation to meet business demand. Offshore - Oversight of offshore software developers to ensure they are equipped for success, integrated with onshore teams and following required standards Continuous Improvements - Bring your own ideas to fruition to improve our delivery as well as enabling wider initiatives too. Technical authority - Guide your team's technical implementation as well as facilitate wider review and ensure robust software development practices that are followed Security - Ensure team acts with security in all aspects of what we do, ensure robust processes are followed and teams are adequately trained. Audit / Compliance - Lead customer, industry and internal audits with regards to software development. Ensure the team are compliant Escalations. - Work with customers, the wider team and senior stakeholders on the effective resolution of escalations



Candidate Profile






Line management experience of a software development team Previous experience or knowledge of the software development lifecycle. Experience within payments, fintech or enterprise software sectors Servant leadership style and proven record of leading teams successfully in complex environments Self motivated with high energy levels and enjoy working with a changing and dynamic organisation. Willingness to work predominantly from Dalgety Bay office and travel as required to support team and customers Able to collaborate well with customers and internal stakeholders Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
