We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled radiographer to join the Dental Radiology team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust as Deputy Superintendent Radiographer.



Our department features state-of-the-art imaging technology and a skilled, patient-focused team. The Dental Radiology Department provides imaging services, supporting a range of dental and maxillofacial specialities.

About the Role



You will be leading the dental radiology team, ensuring a safe, efficient, and patient-centred service. Key responsibilities include:



Expertise in dental and maxillofacial imaging, including CBCT and fluoroscopy.



Leading and motivating staff to foster a positive environment.



Managing service delivery, including staffing and performance monitoring.



Driving innovation through new protocols and procedures.



Supporting staff training to maintain high standards.



Overseeing quality assurance and governance to meet national standards.

As the Deputy Superintendent Radiographer in Dental Radiology , you will play a key leadership role in managing and coordinating the clinical workload within the Dental Radiology Department at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust . You will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality radiological services, including advanced dental and maxillofacial imaging procedures such as CBCT and sialography . A significant aspect of the role involves leading a team of senior radiographers and imaging support staff, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and efficient use of resources to meet service demands. You will also be accountable for training and developing staff, managing performance through regular appraisals, and providing expert clinical guidance. In the absence of the Superintendent Radiographer, you will act as the department's senior representative, handling staffing, operational issues, and ensuring compliance with trust policies and regulations, including those related to radiation protection and clinical governance . Additionally, you will contribute to the strategic development of the service by implementing quality improvements, supporting research and audit activities, and fostering a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

Detailed and Main Responsibilities



As the Deputy Superintendent Radiographer in Dental Radiology at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust , you will play a pivotal role in managing and delivering high-quality dental imaging services across the Trust. Working closely with the Superintendent Radiographer and the Dental Radiology Clinical Lead , you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the department, ensuring the smooth coordination of clinical workload and the delivery of a safe, efficient, and patient-focused service.



Key Responsibilities include:



Clinical Leadership - Provide expert knowledge in a full range of dental and maxillofacial imaging procedures, including CBCT and sialography, ensuring the highest standards of clinical practice.



Team Management - Lead, support, and develop a team of senior radiographers, dental nurses, and imaging support staff, managing performance, capability, and conduct issues in line with Trust policies.



Service Delivery - Manage daily workflow, authorise CBCT scans, and ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet service demands.



Training and Development - Deliver training and support for staff, including radiographers, dental nurses, and clinical teachers, to ensure consistent high standards of care and compliance with professional guidelines.



Operational Management - Oversee equipment maintenance, stock control, and adherence to radiation protection protocols (IR(ME)R17 and IRR17), taking appropriate action to resolve technical and operational issues.



Governance and Quality Improvement - Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental protocols and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and service efficiency.



Strategic Development - Support the Superintendent Radiographer in identifying and implementing service improvements and innovation to drive the department forward.



Multidisciplinary Collaboration - Work closely with dental clinicians, medical physicists, and other healthcare professionals to provide a responsive and integrated service.
