This includes managing staff at Grades 6 and 7 with specialisation in these areas and ensuring coordination between these different but interlinked, areas of department administration.The Deputy Department Manager will be a key member of the professional services management team, with responsibility to support the Department Manager and Head of Department to deliver the strategic aims of the Department. The Departmentxe2x80x99s senior professional services team will consist of a Departmental Manager (Grade 9), a Teaching & Learning Manager (Grade 8) and this Deputy Departmental Manager (Grade 8) role.The post holder will line manage the Departmentxe2x80x99s HR and Finance Manager, Research Manager, Post Award Administrator, Constitution Unit Manager and other staff as needed in the areas of HR, Finance and Research.About youThe candidate must have significant financial and HR management experience. They should have a proven track record of successful line management and staff development, demonstrating team leadership and motivational skills, including setting objectives, allocating tasks and monitoring performance. Comprehensive expertise in HR and recruitment processes, as well as accounting and financial processes within a university or research environment, is essential. Experience of using university financial, HR and research systems like MyFinance, MyHR, TalentLink and Worktribe is required.Candidates must possess excellent interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and discretion and the ability to liaise with staff and external individuals at all levels. Outstanding administrative and organisational skills, including excellent planning and time management are crucial. The ability to work independently, using initiative to solve problems and adaptability under pressure is vital. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, advanced numeracy and computing skills and the ability to handle confidential information sensitively are also essential.The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to the UCL Ways of Working, responding proactively to the needs of colleagues, managing multiple projects and accepting accountability for their decisions.
