About the role
The Mental Capacity & Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team is looking for a Support Officer to join our busy, friendly and passionate team. This is a permanent, 37-hour per week specialist administrative role within Adult Social Care. You will support our Team\'s work within the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards legal frameworks, which are used to uphold and promote the rights and decision making of vulnerable people, underpinned by the Human Rights Act 2008.
The role includes being our front door: processing all of the applications for Deprivation of Liberty that we receive, dealing with queries, arranging mental health and best interests\' assessments, maintaining accurate records relating to the Team\'s functions, using electronic systems and ensuring assessors, signatories, care settings and other relevant people receive all necessary paperwork within the required timescales.
The role requires an understanding of GDPR legislation and the ability to manage sensitive information, problem solving, organisational skills, the ability to prioritise workloads, flexibility and adaptability, good working knowledge of a range of software tools (word processing / spreadsheets), an understanding of audit and data, the ability to communicate and arrange/minute meetings, liaising with other professionals and coordinating the administrative elements of the team. Experience of working in a public sector environment (e.g. Adult Social Care, Health) is desirable but not essential.
