Job Description


We are looking for 2 high performing, enthusiastic individuals with either previous experience or the relevant transferrable skills to join our Democratic Services team undertaking committee management and scrutiny support work. This will include:

  • Preparing and publishing agenda for decision making and scrutiny meetings
  • Attending and producing minutes for those meetings
  • Advising on constitutional and working practices
You will be highly motivated, with proven ability to work under your own initiative and to work well within a team.

You will be personable and approachable with excellent organisational and communication skills, as well as being able to apply total discretion and sensitivity to working in a political environment.

The majority of meetings covered are held on weekday evenings, resulting in Time Off In Lieu when service needs allow. This means that in some weeks the post holder will more than the standard 37 hours and in other weeks they will work less.

This post is deemed as politically restricted. As designated politically restricted officers, employees will not be allowed to undertake certain activities. Please refer to the guidance attached for further information.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
