Delivery Lead
Knutsford, Northampton

As a Barclays Delivery Lead, you will be part of the Platform Services team and will be at the forefront of delivering great engineering across our new platform services and products. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technologist, where you will drive the delivery of our core cloud-based platform, which services as the foundation for our next-generation Corporate Banking services.

What will you be doing?

• Delivering world class applications to provide an enhanced customer experience across our Digital Corporate Bank estate
• Using your extensive experience with SpringBoot and other Java technologies to build mission-critical services and APIs as part of our ongoing digital transformation initiatives
• Guiding the team in best practice for cloud-native and containerised applications as we continue our migration to the cloud across our estate
• Using your experience with Kafka or other messaging technologies to build our next generation of real-time and streaming services
• Working with our talented architecture team to transition our existing services estate to Microservices using DDD principals as your guide
• Providing your expertise in building robust and resilient applications to ensure that our applications implement best in class DevOps and CI/CD principals and technologies
• Deploying modern DevOps and CI/CD in a cloud-native environment

What we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for:

• You will have extensive knowledge of software engineering using JVM based languages, including solid knowledge of Spring
• A detailed knowledge and experience working with and building applications to deployed into the Cloud using VM and container-based technologies
• Previous experience in working with Kafka and developing streaming applications, including building high-performing, mission critical applications using an Agile approach
• Very good knowledge of Kafka fundamentals, including brokers, Zookeeper, connectors and KSQL, including previous experience building Microservices

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Exposure to DDD and frameworks used to deliver applications using this approach
• Ability to mentor and coach colleagues in the creation of streaming applications
• Ability to design and build Kafka Streams applications using the Streams API by means of the DSL API and Processor API
• Exposure to Confluent Schema Registry

Where will you be working?
You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations. The campus is set in a 64-acre self-contained site, in a beautiful green environment and it offers unrivalled facilities for work and for play. We have an onsite gym, as well as outdoor tennis, football and cricket areas, as well as onsite restaurant and coffee shops.

Northampton was the birthplace of Barclaycard in 1966 and we\'ve been based in Pavilion Drive since the building opened in 1997. We purchased the building from the landlord in early 2018 as a sign of our commitment to investment in Northampton. Plans to further develop this Campus-style location are under way to allow for a real collaborative work environment. Based just off the A45 it is easily accessible by both car and bus routes.

Hybrid Working
