Job description
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior IT Service Manager seeking a high-profile and rewarding leadership role. The position is multifaceted and complex, involving significant engagement with a wide range of stakeholders and suppliers across Defence to improve the quality of services provided.
As the Senior IT Service Manager, you will lead the delivery and effectiveness of the service, ensuring it remains available, secure, and continuously improving. You will develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with customers, suppliers, and other Defence Digital teams involved in the end-to-end delivery of the service.
Responsibilities
Leading on response to service incidents including coordinating technical resources to support fault fixes to the MODNET service.
Leading the Live Service team to continuously improve the security of the service including vulnerability management.
Providing input to the Governance of the live service including ensuring robust risk management procedures are in place.
Managing changes to the system including liaising with stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition of changes into service.
Managing the service including integration across other teams and continuous service improvements.
Providing clear and effective communication to the MODNET community to ensure all stakeholders are aware of upcoming changes to the service and any obligations.

Person specification
We are seeking an individual who can balance technical expertise with strong leadership skills, effectively managing complex service operations while fostering team development. Your strategic thinking will be crucial in shaping our IT service road-map, ensuring we meet the evolving needs of both our colleagues and customers.
We expect candidates to have relevant skills and experience in IT service management or other IT related roles at a senior level. Alternatively, appropriate skills gained in different environments, such as IT security management, risk management, change management, or project management, are also valuable.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. Applicants can request further information regarding how this may work in their team from the Vacancy Holder (see advert for contact details). Defence Business Services cannot respond to any questions about working arrangements. The successful candidate is required to carry out all their duties from a UK (MOD Corsham) Location and cannot do so from an overseas location at any time. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. Based on the tasks and business needs, you may be required to travel for meetings to various sites, including locations within the UK.
The post does not offer relocation expenses.
