Ocean Science Consulting Limited (OSC) is a technology-focused marine science company involved principally in providing environmental services worldwide. OSC specialises in marine fauna and underwater-sound monitoring, acoustical and statistical modelling, Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) surveys, and imagery analyses. OSC has a track record for providing environmental monitoring (mitigation for regulatory compliance) and scientific research (field studies and experiments) for a large clientele and range of marine industries.

OSC has been involved in decommissioning since incorporation in 2004, and has a core research Rigs-to-Reefs (RTR) programme which indicates strongly that offshore installations/structures provide reliable feeding habitats for marine mammals and their prey. With the offshore decommissioning market growing exponentially and the number of oil and gas platforms reaching the end of their operational lifetime increasing, OSC is looking to expand its decommissioning services to meet increasing demand for environmental planning, management, and mitigation throughout the decommissioning process.

Decommissioning Consultant \xe2\x80\x93 The Role:

OSC is seeking a highly qualified and experienced (Senior/Principal) Consultant who has specialised in Oil & Gas (O&G) and/or windfarm decommissioning to become a member of its team.

Responsibilities;

  • Contribute to tenders and proposals and provide technical text and support to colleagues;
  • Maintain strong client communication to sustain and develop long-term relationships;
  • Assist in successful project delivery to meet targets and work within budget and programme scope;
  • Develop innovative solutions to O&G and renewable sector challenges through application of novel approaches;
  • Contribute to environmental, economic, social, and legislative assessment of decommissioning options; and,
  • Potential for line management of junior staff.
Decommissioning Consultant \xe2\x80\x93 The successful candidate:

The Decommissioning Consultant will have a strong track record of working in offshore sectors, specifically oil & gas, wind, military, and delivering expertise on environmental and legislative aspects of decommissioning and options assessment, with prior experience working in the field (minimum five years\xe2\x80\x99 experience).

The successful candidate will have previous experience (minimum three years) of project management, liaising with and building positive relationships with stakeholders and clients, as well as preparing and submitting tenders and proposals, marine licencing, and client reporting.

Required;
  • Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. environmental science / environmental law);
  • Experience with consultancy in a decommissioning context;
  • Experience working with O&G, wind, military, and/or tidal sectors in pre/post-consent project delivery;
  • Prior project management and financial management experience;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Experience with comparative assessment (e.g. NEBA-CA) approaches;
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programmes (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams);
  • Able to work on own initiative and prioritise effectively, achieving results against deadlines;
  • Genuine interest about the business, and the industry;
  • Commercially aware, discreet, and able to handle sensitive information.
Desirable;
  • Legally permitted to work in UK prior to employment;
  • Experience managing personnel and teams;
  • Full, clean UK drivers\xe2\x80\x99 licence.
