Our Purpose

We are looking to recruit a Debt Management Officer who will be responsible for contributing to maximising the effective recovery and management of debts to the Council including Council Tax, Business Rates, Sundry debts and Benefit overpayments.


The Role


The Post holder will be an essential part of the Shared service between North East and North Lincolnshire Councils Debt Management function and will be required to deal with sensitive, contentious and complex debt issues on behalf of either Council.


This is an agile role so the postholder may work from home or from good quality well maintained offices. However, there may be a need to travel to other sites/venues within the Council area.


About You


The post holder will have the ability to prioritise workloads to meet set targets and deadlines, and the ability to work on their own initiative, within a pre-determined service delivery framework using appropriate IT systems. Candidates must have a sound knowledge of Council Tax, Business Rates and Housing Benefit legislation and Debt Recovery processes.


Previous Debt Management experience is essential. In addition to excellent communication skills both written and verbal as well as the ability to communicate effectively with customers.
Decision making is an essential part of this post and the ability to respond to individual and complex queries from customers and look for acceptable solutions to problems which customers may identify.
Ideally you will have the IRRV technician level or an equivalent qualification (or substantial relevant experience) with good oral and written skills with GCSE\'s at grade 4 (formerly grade C) or above in English and Maths
