In order to help achieve this vision of solving the challenges of today and tomorrow, the University is now seeking to appoint a new Dean of Postgraduate Research and the Doctoral College.
The University of Exeter Doctoral College brings together institution-wide academic and professional services support, training, and administration for our postgraduate researcher community of around 2000 students, and - under the leadership of the Dean - drives the strategic direction for postgraduate research at Exeter.
As a key member of the University Research and Impact Executive Committee and Chair of the Postgraduate Research Board, the Dean of Postgraduate Research and the Doctoral College will play a leading role in implementing the Doctoral College Strategy 2030. They are responsible for providing strategic vision and leadership across the full breadth of the postgraduate research lifecycle and championing postgraduate research student experience. They will lead on new ideas for enhancing our postgraduate research environment and ensure our postgraduate research students are embedded as a vital part of our vibrant research culture and community.
The next Dean will possess proven academic leadership and management experience and be able to demonstrate strategic vision. The successful candidate will have a significant track record of internationally recognised research in their designated field, including publications in high quality journals, a successful track record of developing and securing external research funding and supervision of PhD students to completion. The appointee will also have the ability to manage and develop effective working relationships with research staff and display a strong commitment to fostering an ambitious and inclusive environment.
