0.6 FTE for 9 months (March - November 2024)
We are seeking to appoint a Data Technologist to work on our new AHRC funded project, the Community Open Map Platform (COMP) for Future Generations. The AHRC funded \xe2\x80\x98COMP\xe2\x80\x99 (Community Open Map Platform) on the Isle of Anglesey is a research project led by Cambridge University in partnership with Cardiff University and Wrexham University. The Community Open Map Platform will bring together multiple layers of spatial information to give a social, environmental, cultural and economic visualisation of what is happening in a neighbourhood, area, local authority, region or nation. The need to include people in decision making about their future is at the heart of the Future Generations Wales (2015) Act (FGA), a ground breaking and internationally renowned piece of legislation strongly linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Similar policies are being developed in England, Scotland and Ireland and a range of other \xe2\x80\x98wellbeing economy governments\xe2\x80\x99 across the globe. Our plans for the Community Open Map Platform (COMP) have been inspired by - the Welsh Government\xe2\x80\x99s need to operationalise the FGA and the Isle of Anglesey County Council\xe2\x80\x99s need to align its activities and performance with the FGA. Across the UK local authorities are struggling to capture social, environmental, cultural and economic value in a holistic & inclusive way- the COMP will help them accomplish this goal with an emphasis on green transition and climate change adaptation. Most importantly the project will be developed and monitored with and by a representative cross section of the local community working directly with the research team and people in communities to understand and capture their stories and challenges in a creative way. The Data Technologist is an integral role in the development and realisation of Community Open Mapping Platform. Data Technologist will be employed to upload mixed media created by the cultural mappers (bards) with the community in a form that can be translated into the cultural maps. The post holder will support the collecting and relaying resources and media content from the creative practice activities to the COMP project, and work as part of the Wrexham COMP Team, supporting requests for creation of digital content. The Data Technologist will contribute to the effective delivery of the digital element of the project, and provide specialist support to the Creative Practitioners (Bards) and the Post-Doctoral Researcher. The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable, however this is not essential.
