The Craneware Group supports a flexible work environment as well as a collaborative and teamwork focused atmosphere. Employees will be expected to work a hybrid working arrangement spending 40% of their time per month in the Tanfield office - approx 2 days per week.



The Team




Craneware is looking for a passionate Data Scientist to assist in designing, developing and delivering high quality software solutions for TCG products which drive improvements in the US-based healthcare market. We are growing a team of strong thinkers and innovators that are willing to work closely with product and customer-facing teams to design and develop new applications in the Cloud.



We are expanding our current platform and SaaS product offerings by using cutting edge technology to process very large data sets that will provide actionable insights for our customers. Architecting our solutions with a best of breed approach to technology.



The Data Scientist role will be responsible for developing high quality machine learning-enabled solutions and conducting complex data analyses to drastically improve existing products and act as a catalyst for the development of new innovations. This position will support the Data Innovation Portfolio's strategies and initiatives by rapidly deploying data-driven solutions and prototyping new machine-learning models.



You Will Be



Developing creative solutions to diverse problems including engineering challenges, unstructured data messes, ontology development, and machine learning applications. Operating at level of sophistication in statistics, machine learning, or computer science that is publication worthy. Reviewing peer code against The Craneware Group development standards to ensure high quality code and consistency Keeping up to date with technical advances to drive innovation



You Will Bring



Excellent verbal communications, including the ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical collaborators MS with 3+ years or PhD in computational subject area. Degree(s) should be in a technical discipline such as Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, Physics, Math, quantitative social science Experience with SQL relational databases as well as big data: the Hadoop ecosystem, Hive, Spark, Kafka, Flink Required: Java or Scala, SQL, and python or R Experience with machine learning and computational statistics packages Experience with visualization tools (Tableau, qlik, Zoomdata, D3, etc) Frequent user of cloud computing platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform Previous work on medical applications and/or with claims data preferred Proven strong ability to analyse and solve technical problems Independent and self-motivated in driving development and technical process improvement. Ability to clearly articulate ideas to target audience Ability to collaborate with other senior members of the organisation and stakeholders Working knowledge of Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools (e.g. TFS or Jira) * Good understanding of the use of source control
