As a Data Architect, you will champion data architecture across the organisation, lead work to review our current landscape, and identify opportunities to improve our capabilities. You will join a new data team - established to deliver our SCC Data Strategy - and will contribute towards shaping our work, priorities, and ambitions.
Work location
This is a hybrid role, and you will have the option of working from home for the majority of your week. You will be expected to attend the office when business need requires you to do so; we anticipate this will be about 2 or 3 days per month. Many of our staff also work flexibly, including term-time only, so we welcome a conversation as to what might work best for you.
About the role
In the role of Data Architect, you will work closely with Head of Architecture, Transitions and PPM, Data Governance Manager, enterprise architects, technical leads, and project managers to provide data architecture subject matter expertise to the organisation and ensure solutions align with and enable the delivery of the SCC data strategy.
This role will also involve supporting work across the partnership space to ensure Surrey County Council is a good data partner and can fully contribute and support the development and delivery of a Surrey-wide data and analytics ecosystem.
About you
A motivated and highly collaborative individual, you will understand the latest thinking in data approaches and technologies and be able to educate and influence those around you. You will have significant experience as a data architect, designing and delivering modern data architectures for complex organisations with multiple lines of business.

As well as this, you will have the knowledge and skills required to define guidance for enterprise architectural designs to ensure that solutions adhere to specific best practices, leading to more consistent solutions in the future.
You will have excellent communication skills; able to work across organisational, service and technical boundaries. You will also be able make complex and technical information and language simple and accessible for non-technical audiences. In addition, you will be a TOGAF Practitioner or have excellent TOGAF awareness.
As part of the application process, you will be asked to answer the following questions along with uploading your CV: * Tell us about a previous data architect role. How did you support your organisation to improve or transform to solve a business problem?
