Data Architect | 6 Month Contract | (Inside IR35) | Hybrid (Edinburgh/Glasgow) | Starting ASAP

Harvey Nash\xe2\x80\x99s public Sector client is looking a Data Architect. This role will be pivotal in establishing the data office within the client and delivering against a programme of Data Governance for the organisation as well as providing data architecture to some national level programmes of work.

Main Duties:

  • Contribute to the client Data Strategy and Implementation plan, with a particular focus on Data Architecture, co-ordinating with user representatives such as technical architects in programme delivery teams.
  • Maintain awareness of best practice in data management and solutions and support the client to adopt practices and tools where appropriate.
  • Engage enthusiastically with senior data users and data service owners from across the organisation, supporting them to adopt policies, practices and tools, engage with the data strategy and ensuring our data strategy supports their needs.
  • Support the Data Governance Boards to maintain a comprehensive picture of organisational data governance risks/opportunities, use this register to prioritise governance activities.
  • Contribute to scoping of solutions for delivering an organisational wide data catalogue, and meta-data management platform. Delivery of this service and support for user adoption.
  • Populate and maintain a departmental library of data standards and policies to enable staff to understand the best practice way to deliver common data processes.
Essential Skills & Requirements
  • Experience developing/managing data flows or pipelines, including strong understanding of end-end data lifecycles.
  • Knowledge of data architecture concepts such as data warehousing, data fabric or data mesh.
  • Experience developing and implementing metadata management processes such as data cataloguing or frameworks to support metadata management or data dictionaries.
  • Knowledge of the digital services that underpin data and metadata management, and ability to advise on the practical steps needed to implement new data and metadata management services.
  • Ability to support a diverse range of users to adopt data standards and policies to enable staff to use best-practice solutions to common data processes.
  • Experience working at the interface of multidisciplinary teams, particularly acting as a translator between technical and non-technical stakeholders and across organisational boundaries.
  • High levels of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills, with an ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with partners, stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with a demonstrable track record of convincing a range of stakeholders to buy into change
