Job Description

We are seeking a Paralegal who will work within the Criminal Defence department.

The successful candidate would be located at the Rotherham office, but may be required to work from the Rotherham office.

We are seeking an individual who will be willing to learn as our aim is to employ someone long term and to provide training for them to eventually qualify as a solicitor.

We are looking for someone who possesses the following:

• a 2:1 degree in Law (those with lesser grades are still encouraged to apply)
• An interest in pursuing a career in criminal defence
• Exceptional communication skills, in person and by correspondence
• Excellent time management
• Strong attention to detail
• The ability to work independently and within a team
• Any paralegal experience is desired but not required
• A friendly, enthusiastic, and can-do approach
• High level of initiative and willingness to learn
• Social media awareness is desirable

The role will require you to carry out the following:

• Day to day support to the solicitors at the Practice
• To carry out client work allocated to you
• To eventually work with a solicitor on a caseload
• To have meetings and communication with clients and be able to deal with their queries under the supervision of a solicitor
• To liaise and deal with various Courts, Prosecuting authorities, Barristers chambers, the Police and other law enforcement agencies and other departments/tribunals
• To draft standard legal documentation and letters under the supervision of a solicitor
• To analyse and review evidence/documents
• Administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying and post
• To assist in maintaining the high standards at the Firm
• Working closely with the Directors of the Firm to ensure compliance in all aspects is carried out
