We're partnered with a long-standing and respected legal practice based in Coventry who are looking for a Criminal Defence Solicitor to join their busy and supportive crime department. This is a great opportunity for a Duty Solicitor to work on a varied caseload of legal aid and private client matters, ranging from minor offences to serious criminal charges. You'll be part of a close-knit team and will represent clients at the Police Station, Magistrates' Court, and Crown Court, working collaboratively with Counsel and colleagues to secure the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities include:

Provide legal advice and representation to clients in criminal defence cases. Manage a mixed caseload of legal aid and private client matters, ensuring timely and effective progression. Attend Magistrates' and Crown Court hearings, trials, and Police station interviews. Prepare legal documents including prosecution evidence reviews, briefs to Counsel, and Legal Aid Agency forms. Conduct legal research and apply up-to-date knowledge of criminal law and procedures. Liaise and negotiate with prosecutors and other legal professionals. Maintain accurate case files and manage Court diary commitments. Work collaboratively with the wider team and support staff.

What we need from you:

Qualified Duty Solicitor with a current practising certificate. Ideally 2+ years PQE in criminal defence. Strong knowledge of criminal law and procedure. Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and communication skills. Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and work well under pressure. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Team player with a proactive and client-focused approach.
