We are looking for a talented Creative Head to lead the DESIGN team in BBC Creative.

This is a key role within the BBC\'s in-house creative agency which creates a wide range of work from TV channel branding to digital assets, and from complex 3D graphic sequences to iconic static imagery.

This is a permanent role, based in London.

Main Responsibilities

As Creative Head - DESIGN, reporting to the Executive Creative Director, you will lead and inspire a team, creating work of the highest standard. Our aim is to be the best creative floor in the country.

This role leads a team of 30+ Design generalists and specialists working across all media creating static, interactive and motion graphics for broadcast, print and digital / social use across our branding / promotional campaigns.

The team consists of:

  • Developing/Junior Designers
  • Designers (mid weight)
  • Senior Designers
As a senior leader overseeing the creation of multi-platform branding and advertising campaigns for major BBC brands, you will be working closely with the BBC Marketing team and other senior BBC stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:
  • To creatively oversee all our design output, striving for excellence on every project
  • To lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team of Designers at various levels of experience and seniority
  • To drive the highest professional standards in design
  • To build and mentor a team of Designers capable of delivering outstanding design solutions for our most complex projects, working with partners / specialist freelancers as required
Detailed responsibilities:
  • To effectively delegate work to Senior Designers in order to establish and maintain a structure which is capable of overseeing and steering a large and complex design ecosystem
  • To identify and understand the cutting edge of design culture, and bring the design team closer to it through consultation, critique and inspiration
  • To understand and manage the ground-level pressures of print, motion, digital, and brand design
  • To be capable of prioritising projects within a department\'s pipeline
  • To oversee at a high level operationally as well as creatively, including being able to identify challenges and drive resolution
Are you the right candidate?

We are looking for an outstanding creative with significant design experience, and an in-depth knowledge of digital brand marketing and consumer trends. You will also need to have successfully achieved the creation of digital campaigns, and have excellent creative leadership skills, with a proven track-record of advising on innovative campaigns for new platforms.

You will need:
  • CREATIVITY - To have proven credentials in creating bold and original design
  • LEADERSHIP - To have specific experience of managing / mentoring Designers, and the potential to be an outstanding leader
  • PRODUCTION - To have a fundamental understanding of digital/broadcast design, branding, and OOH design conventions and processes, with a good knowledge of key software (such as Adobe Creative Suite and Cinema 4D)
  • COMMUNICATION - To have good influencing/persuading skills and be confident working with senior stakeholders. To be able to communicate effectively with a disparate range of creative and production colleagues
