Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and customer-oriented Counter Sales Assistant to join our team at Allans of Gillock, Inverness. In this role, you will play a vital part in enhancing customer satisfaction and driving sales in predominantly garden machinery but also agricultural and fencing materials. Your contributions will be essential in helping us maintain our reputation for outstanding service.

Hours of work: 8.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday and there would also be a requirement to work every second Saturday 8.00am to 12.00pm with time off in lieu.

Main duties include but are not restricted to:

Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner. Providing assistance and advice on product requirements where necessary. Process transactions accurately and efficiently using merchanting system, providing quotes and taking orders for delivery. Upsell products to increase sales revenue. Maintain a clean and organised work environment ensuring shop displays are adequately stocked, priced and well presented. Handle phone enquiries with professionalism and courtesy and resolve any issues promptly. Utilize basic numeracy skills for cash handling and sales transactions. Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues to enhance customer service. Assemble garden machinery ready for sale.
Requirements

Basic numeracy skills for handling transactions accurately. Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively. Proven ability in upselling and driving sales. Strong communication skills for effective interaction with customers and team members. Practical ability with mechanical interests. Previous experience in garden machinery or ground care sectors. Organizational skills to maintain store standards. Physically fit.
