Due to a retirement, we are looking to recruit an experienced Council Tax Officer to join our team as soon as possible.
This position is in the Council Tax team based at Number 1 Riverside. You will deal with the billing, collection and recovery of Council Tax.
The hours are 37 per week, Monday to Friday. We operate a flexible working scheme which allows a degree of flexibility on your start and finish times, subject to the needs of the service.
The role will initially be office based for 5 days a week during your induction. Following your induction you will spend at least 3 days a week in the office and may have up to 2 days a week home working, if you would like to. This post is suitable for consideration under the Corporate Homeworking Policy. Office based training and evaluation must be undertaken before an application can be made for permanent Homeworking.
The salary for this post is dependent upon experience:
25,584 to 27,269 (Grade 4, SCP 7 to 11)
27,711 to 30,060 (Grade 5, SCP 12 to 17)
About you
You must have experience of dealing with customers and internal departments, face to face, over the telephone and in writing. Experience of working in a Revenues environment is essential.
You will be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. You will be a strong team player, flexible, enthusiastic and able to work to deadlines whilst fulfilling quality and service standards. You will also have excellent IT skills including experience of using a Revenues & Benefits software system such as Capita One and an electronic document management system such as Information@Work.
To be appointed at Grade 5, you must have:
Substantial office experience of working in both Council Tax Billing and Recovery
Detailed knowledge, understanding and work experience of Council Tax legislation, processing and procedures.
To be appointed at Grade 4, you must have:
Experience of working in either a Council Tax Billing or Recovery office, or experience in working in a customer contact centre dealing with Council Tax Billing or Recovery
