The national Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) agenda is evolving, with the recent publication of the national independent Strategic Review of Funding and Commissioning of VAWG Services, and refresh of the national Equally Safe strategy later this year. This will provide opportunities to move us forward in how we respond to VAWG in Scotland, and the successful candidate will come into post at an exciting time. The post holder will work across a broad and varied remit, and will build effective working relationships across a range of partner agencies in the third and statutory sectors to deliver on our ambitious agenda. This agenda is themed around leadership and development of local policy and practice, learning and development and performance improvement relating to VAWG.
The post holder will demonstrate effective communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. They will support delivery of the business priorities of the East Lothian and Midlothian Public Protection Committee (EMPPC) and the VAWG Sub-group. They will work with colleagues to ensure inter-connecters of the themes across the lifespan, and to Child and Adult Support and Protection.
The post holder will contribute to and support the work of the national Violence Against Women Partnership and will ensure that EMPPC is kept informed about national and local developments relating to VAWG policies, legislation and service developments.
The post holder will be educated to degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as social work, education, health, law enforcement; and/or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through previous experience.
