Job Description

The Lyttelton Well is looking for a seasonal cook for its cafe. This role will involve joining our current cooks on Monday 12-2.30pm and Friday 12-4.30pm, plus flexibility to cover other lunchtimes or longer daytime shifts (8am-4pm) as needed.

We are looking for someone who enjoys cooking delicious meals, scones and cakes for customers. Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen is desirable but not necessary, as training in cooking and food hygiene will be provided.

We are looking for someone who can fully support our Christian ethos and vision and works positively with all our customers, volunteers and staff.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Undertake the preparation, cooking and serving of meals, snacks, cakes, etc. in accordance with specified menus. Ensure that food hygiene and cleaning standards are fully maintained across the cafe. Ensure specific dietary needs are fully met especially regarding allergens. Undertake Level 2 Food Hygiene and Food Allergen training every three years. Work according to all policies and procedures (food hygiene, health & safety, fire, safeguarding, first aid). Support volunteers and staff in maintaining a customer-focussed service that enhances the reputation of The Well. Assist with stock control, ordering and receipt of deliveries. Communicate regularly with the team and with managers.

Hold a personal Christian faith or be in sympathy with Christian values. Work under the supervision of our Cafe Manager and Cooks or independently, as required. Enjoy being a team member who brings out the best in others. Communicate clearly and positively to all customers, volunteers and staff. Organisational skills including working flexibly, to time, in accordance with agreed routines.
