An opportunity is available for a Contract Works Assessor based in Swansea or Cardiff.
This critical role covering the Soutn Wales and surrounding area depots, will be responsible for ensuring that work being carried out by our contractor partners is best in class and fully aligns to the initial work instruction and invoiced accordingly. Although working alone to carry out these vital network inspections, you will work very closely with your Team Leaderproviding detailed and in-depth feedback.
This role is at the forefront of ensuring a safe, efficient and affordable network for our customers by minimising avoidable variations in the original work instruction.
As part of our hybrid working approach this role offers a mix of office and home working. Hybrid working will be considered once your initial training is complete and subject to business need.
Main Responsibilities
Inspect work sites where a contractor is or has carried out work or where work is being undertaken
Assess whether contractor has completed work for policy compliance, contract rates & variations to work schedules
Report non-conformities to key stakeholders
Carry out contractor inspections, including dig & lay, overhead lines, tree work and civil activities
Provide guidance to field team to ensure that Work Instructions are completed accurately and the the contractor is only carrying the work required
Report non-compliance following an inspection
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this role will put health and safety at the forefront of everything they do, understanding that safety is everyone's responsibility and that we operate a world class Safe to Say culture.
You will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of, or have the capabilities to build knowledge quickly of the National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) contracts, policies, standard techniques and NGED assets and work activities.
Good communication skills will be vital for this role particularly to ensure the building of strong relationships with our contractors and local authorities.
Holding a NRSWA qualification or understanding of NRSWA legislation is desirable but full training can be provided.
You will need to be mobile throughout South Wales therefore a full driving licence is required.

This role is subject to a satisfactory Barring Service, (DBS) check, depending on the role different levels of screening and vetting are required. Some roles require a triannual check.
