The team
Our News team delivers high quality and trustworthy television and online coverage that regularly attracts audiences in excess of 3.5 million viewers. It\xe2\x80\x99s a fast moving environment with a huge variety of roles and challenges on offer. We operate in 11 main news production centres across England, Northern Ireland, Wales and the Channel Islands. We also have a Political Unit and a Weather centre based in Millbank, London. And finally, we produce a range of current affairs & factual programming out of ITV Wales, UTV and ITV Border.
The role
This is a senior position in the ITV Wales newsroom and you will be required to take responsibility for programme producing, news editing and planning. This is an opportunity for an experienced journalist who wishes to gain further experience as a decision-maker on our newsdesk whilst also supporting our Head of News and managers in leading our news team.
You will be an experienced and qualified journalist, to NCTJ level or equivalent, with an appreciation of regional news production. As a confident communicator who values strong team working, you\xe2\x80\x99ll be highly organised and able to coordinate our day to day newsgathering, speaking to contributors and briefing our news crews.
You will also be a creative storyteller, who knows what we need editorially and visually, to make our news content engaging and relevant to our audience on air and online.
With your thorough knowledge of legal, Ofcom compliance and Health and Safety guidelines and your excellent editorial judgement, you will be able to make informed decisions confidently and to tight deadlines.

Skills you\xe2\x80\x99ll need (minimum criteria)
Several years experience as a decision maker in a professional news environment.
Proven experience of producing or planning impactful, high-quality & distinctive News content to deadlines and under pressure.
A strong knowledge of media law & compliance and the ability to exercise excellent editorial judgement.
Experience of successfully leading or managing others and projects
Other things we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for (key criteria)
Extensive experience in a TV environment or an ability to demonstrate their adaptability from a related field to a tv newsroom.
Creative storyteller, who knows the principles behind creating visual and engaging content to our audience on air and online.
Experience of effectively leading teams and a growth mindset in developing colleagues.
The ability to demonstrate resilience & determination with a willingness to learn new skills.
Proven track record of working successfully to deadlines and focusing well under pressure.
A passion for Wales and an understanding of its distinct features.
Experience of curating web content and an understanding of the principles of creating web content.
An understanding of the importance of Diversity & Inclusion in determining output.
While not a requirement, we would also welcome applications from candidates who have strong on-screen reporting experience to offer in combination with a production, planning or news editing role.
