Vacancy for Consultant Urological Surgeon
Great Western Hospital is a growing Trust providing an increasing range of surgical procedures to its local community. The hospital is therefore appointing a sixth Consultant Urological Surgeon.
The successful applicant will join a team of five established Consultant Urological Surgeons and one Associate Specialist. Two consultants are full time in Swindon, one consultant has a joint post between Swindon and Bristol (split 50:50), and two of the consultants are now working part-time.
There is one urology specialty registrar from the Southwest rotation and two clinical fellows. There are three urology oncology specialist nurses, a urodynamic nurse and an active research team. Oncology cover is provided by the Oxford oncology department who are now able to provide radiotherapy onsite in Swindon as the new radiotherapy unit has just opened.
The Post holder will be expected to provide elective services such as outpatient clinics both at Great Western and at some peripheral community hospitals, and elective inpatient and day-case operations. The successful candidate will also support the hospital\'s new care pathways and will take part in the Consultant of the Week rota that provides care for all urology inpatients and offer telephone advice to the on call surgical team out of hours. Occasional out of hours attendance may be required.
Main duties of the job
Applicants must hold CCT or be within 6 months of CCT (or equivalent) at the time of interview.
The postholder will be expected to provide an across the board core adult urological service and develop a specialist interest to complement with the rest of the department.
