We're looking for a skilled and compassionate Consultant Psychiatrist - CAMHS to join our inpatient team at Priory Hospital Chelmsford.

We offer high-quality residential, day care and outpatient services for up to 60 service users - including a dedicated CAMHS service for young people.

Our multi-disciplinary team includes consultant psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and therapists, all working together to deliver personalised care through a wide range of therapeutic interventions.



Your Role as a CAMHS Consultant



As a full-time Consultant Psychiatrist in our CAMHS team, you will provide expert inpatient psychiatric care for young people and contribute to high-quality service delivery through clinical leadership and collaboration with our wider MDT.



Key responsibilities include:



Clinical:



Acting as Consultant and Responsible Clinician for CAMHS inpatients

Leading on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning process

Working collaboratively with patients, carers, and external agencies

Chairing MDT and CPA meetings

Preparing reports for Mental Health Act Tribunals and Managers Hearings

Contributing to clinical governance and continuous service improvement



Management:



Providing clinical leadership in partnership with the Ward Manager

Supporting regulatory compliance and quality standards on the ward

Attending monthly CAMHS governance meetings and contributing to service development



Academic:



Participating in monthly academic meetings

Delivering case presentations and teaching sessions

Engaging in audit, research, and quality improvement projects

Requirements

MBBS or equivalent Medical Degree and MRCPsych

Full GMC registration with a licence to practise

CAMHS CCT/CESR and Approved Clinician (AC) status

Strong understanding of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act

Experience working in CAMHS, preferably inpatient or eating disorder settings

Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
