Required to fill this new post within the Radiology Department at the Leeds General Infirmary/St Jamess University Hospital. The successful applicant will join a team of 5 Chest Radiologists who work cross-site to deliver a range of diagnostic and interventional Thoracic Radiology services and contribute to several MDTs and clinic-radiological meetings. Two members of the team are also part of 4 Consultant Radiologists delivering the Cardiac CT service. The team is supported by a common secretary and have shared office space with dedicated desktop for carrying out SPA and administrative activities. The successful applicant will also have access to home working option which has been rolled out successfully. Currently some members of the team are also a part of the Yorkshire Lung Cancer Screening Trial Research which is run by the University of Leeds with Professor Matthew Callister, as the Principal Investigator. The team is anticipating an increase in workload in line with the planned roll-out of the Lung Cancer Screening programme.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant should possess FRCR (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.
Applicants should have established skills in Thoracic Radiology and its related specialties including Cardiac CT and a range of CT and US guided Thoracic Interventions. A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.
Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.

This is a 10 PA appointment for a Consultant Radiologist, with special interest in Thoracic radiology, Cardiac CT, and related intervention. The post will be contracted by LTHT, and the post will be based Cross City (SJUH & LGI).
2. OBJECTIVES OF THE POST
Overview of Radiology in LTHT
The LTHT radiology department is one of the largest in Europe and has an established reputation for clinical innovation and expertise along with a significant teaching and research profile. The department contains one of three national radiology training academies with associated educational facilities and resources for the Leeds Bradford Radiology training scheme. In terms of research the department has helped establish a NIHR funded research 3T MRI as part of the Leeds Biomedical Research Unit contained on trust premises. Members of the Thoracic Radiology team also contribute to ongoing Research as a part of the Yorkshire Lung Screening Trial
Recently the department has also been successful in obtaining funding for developing a Community Diagnostic Hub and also establishing an academic programme focusing on intervention oncology and Nuclear Medicine radiology led by Professors of Radiology.
The University of Leeds is a major partner and is looking to expand the latter with specific academic radiology appointments. Honorary appointments radiology consultants have formed a large proportion of the recently created Honorary Clinical Associate Professor positions.
Research and Education are priorities for the Trust and any new radiology consultant appointed will have the opportunity to explore furthering research and educational possibilities when in post if they wish (please also see 4).
We are looking for a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team of 5 Thoracic Radiologists and 4 Cardiac CT Radiologists (two with shared interests across these specialties). We require a range of diagnostic and related Interventional skills to complement those of the existing staff, in a post working across-site at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and the workings at the proposed community diagnostic hub. The post holder will be based primarily at Leeds General Infirmary, Leeds.
