OpportunityWorking as part of a skilful multi-discipline team, Head Medical are seeking a Consultant in Orthopaedic Surgery who specialises in Upper Limb (Ideally Shoulders & Elbow) Orthopaedics to come to work for a leading private hospital in the UK.Based in the City of Plymouth, Devon, as part of their professional, friendly and compassionate team you will do everything you can to ensure the patients treatment is of the highest standard. This organisation focuses on ensuring that patients receive high-quality treatment quickly, in clean and comfortable surroundings.You will be part of a team providing an onsite orthopaedic surgical service to meet the needs of patients treated. The centre hosts a day surgery unit and outpatient department which offers minor orthopaedic procedures.The successful appointee will be required to perform orthopaedic surgical procedures and clinics on patients referred to the Hospital, including to note:The postholder will be required to perform orthopaedic surgical procedures on patients referred to the hospital, following hospital protocols and working practices.Major and intermediate surgery such as:

• Arthroscopic and open Shoulder surgery, including tendon repair, stabilisations, decompressions etc
• Arthroscopic and open Elbow surgery
• Shoulder replacement
• Dupuytrens
• Trapeziectomy

Minor orthopaedic surgery to include:

• Carpal Tunnel Release and a range of other minor Hand Procedures
• Joint aspiration and/or injection and other Minor Musculoskeletal procedures
• Other minor procedures

Duties will include preoperative, intra operative and postoperative activities and therefore covers all aspects of patient care.Applicants will be required to demonstrate a high level of operative skill in upper limb surgery, with their previous experience to be backed up from operative logbook or hospital record of data.Whilst a typical full-time working week will comprise 40 hours over 4 days, working patterns will be flexible over primarily a Monday to Saturday rota.What's on offer?

Requirements to apply?

• Entry on GMC Specialist Register within T&O
• UK registerable Medical Degree.
• FRCS/MRCS
• Wide training and experience in Upper Limb Orthopaedics
• Evidence of clinical outcome data
• Experienced in large-volume joint surgeries
