About the Role
We're looking for a confident, highly experienced, and self-motivated
Construction Business Development Executive
to join our expanding team.
This is a key role focused solely on generating and nurturing
construction work
for
Imperium Engineering & Construction
(one of SBK's primary clients).
You'll be responsible for outbound calls to leads generated through email marketing campaigns, referrals, and our existing client base. Your goal will be to either set meetings with our Director or obtain project drawings and details to enable fee proposals or QS quotes to be prepared.
You must already have
extensive experience in the AEC industry
and be fully fluent in construction, engineering, and architecture terminology - this is non-negotiable.
An intensive one-week crash course with the CEO and Engineering Director of Imperium Engineering will be provided to get you fully up to speed on internal systems, processes, and project workflows.
However, you must already come into the role fully comfortable with AEC-specific language and practices.
You will be working alongside our current Sales Representative, who successfully got the Imperium Engineering sales pipeline up and running. They will be your "best friend" at work - providing support, guidance, and a point of contact for any day-to-day questions.
Although your primary account will be Imperium Engineering, you will be fully employed by SBK Marketing, integrated into our team, and based full-time in our Ealing Broadway office.
Training Schedule
Day 1-2:
Spend time at SBK Marketing's office, getting comfortable with the team, systems, processes, and overall agency culture.
Remainder of Week 1:
Spend the rest of the week at Imperium Engineering's offices undergoing an intensive, project-specific crash course with senior leadership.
Responsibilities
Manage and execute outbound sales calls and outreach, focusing exclusively on construction leads.
Qualify leads, obtain drawings and project details, and set meetings for the Imperium Engineering Director.
Tailor sales messaging to each stage of the construction project pipeline - from concept designs to project delivery.
Confidently speak and understand AEC-specific language on every call (architectural drawings, engineering calculations, fee proposals, QS quotes, etc.).
Track all outreach activities and lead statuses clearly and accurately within the CRM.
Handle objections professionally, demonstrating resilience and a solutions-focused attitude.
Maintain a strong understanding of Imperium Engineering's services and positioning in the construction market.
Collaborate with the SBK team to ensure best practices are followed across all outreach campaigns.
Maintain a fast, efficient workflow that reflects the high standards expected at SBK Marketing.
What We're Looking For
5+ years of proven experience in AEC-related sales, business development, or client acquisition roles.
Deep understanding of the construction, engineering, and architecture industries - including terminology, workflows, and project structures.
Clear and polished communicator - both written and verbal.
Highly self-driven and results-oriented, able to operate independently without micromanagement.
Confident navigating and adapting your sales approach based on different project stages and client types.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Based within a one-hour commute of Ealing Broadway, London.
Bonus Points
Previous experience working in a marketing agency or B2B sales environment.
Familiarity with CRMs or outreach automation tools (specifically Monday and Instantly!).
A background or qualification in construction, engineering, or architecture.
