Computational Biologist in Single Cell Genomics

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic computational biologist to join the research groups of Professors Adam Mead and Jim Hughes. Funded by the John Fell Fund the position is initially available for one year with the possibility of further extension. The postholder will be involved with developing new and innovative strategies for the analysis of cutting-edge single cell transcriptomic and multi-omic datasets and will jointly lead a project focused on single-cell analysis of haematopoietic stem and progenitor cells to characterise aberrant gene regulation in myeloid neoplasms.

The Mead laboratory is located in the excellent environment of the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, University of Oxford, which has a world-renowned scientific environment and outstanding core facilities and equipment, including a dedicated single-cell genomics facility. The post will also be embedded within the MRC WIMM Centre for Computational Biology and the research group of Professor Jim Hughes.

You will hold, or be nearing to completion of, a PhD degree (or equivalent) in a quantitative field (statistics, mathematics, physics), computational biology, bioinformatics, or molecular biology with a significant computational component. Strong statistical analysis skills, programming experience (Python), and familiarity with working in a Linux environment are essential.
