The Role



This role is vital in ensuring the firm complies with its regulatory obligations under the SRA Standards and Regulations, AML legislation, GDPR, and other relevant legal and ethical requirements.

What will you do?





You will assist in the implementation, monitoring, and enforcement of compliance policies and procedures across the firm and will report directly to the firm's Compliance Manager.


Conduct client and matter risk assessments, including client due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), and ongoing monitoring in line with AML regulations. Assist with conflict of interest and confidentiality checks for new matters and clients. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of compliance activities and the firm's various internal risk registers (e.g. breaches, gifts, complaints, data protection, foreign client log). Assist lawyers with AML queries, including queries in relation to ID, CDD or the firm's AML policies. Regularly review the firm's PowerBi reports on MS Teams and address areas of non-compliance with internal policies. Update and help maintain the accuracy of the firm's internal Technical Hub compliance page. Support the implementation and regular review of internal policies and procedures. Respond to more straightforward data breach reports and maintain the accuracy of the firm's data breach register. Assist with other data protection tasks, such as Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA's), Subject Access Requests and the firm's annual Data Audit. Provide support during regulatory audits or inspections, including the firm's annual ISOO 9001, Lexcel and independent AML audit. Assist with new starter inductions and training and awareness initiatives across the firm, including preparing materials and maintaining records of attendance. Conduct legal research on compliance-related matters and support the drafting of internal guidance. Liaise with lawyers and support staff to resolve compliance queries promptly and effectively. Support the firm's onboarding process for new clients and matters in compliance with firm policies. Provide basic complaints handling assistance to the Compliance Solicitor. Open and close files as requested.

You will be based at our offices on North Hill with potential to work from home part of the week subject to training and business need.
