Coventry is expanding with a growing population, a buoyant and increasing private rented sector. A key strategic priority for the Council is to therefore keep residents safe and tackle poor housing conditions.The Council currently responds to complaints in the Private Rented Sector and implements the Mandatory and Additional HMO licensing schemes to deal with issues caused by the poor management of privately rented HMO properties. What is the job role?We are looking for Compliance Officers to join our Safer Housing and Communities Team. You will be working under the general direction of the HMO Team Managers delivering key services to landlords, tenants, and residents in the city.You will be responsible for the day to day management of a caseload carrying out activities relating to the compliance of HMO licence conditions and the management of HMOs and provide assistance to the HMO Team Managers and other Officers conducting enforcement investigations.The full list of duties and responsibilities are in the Job description attached. Who are we looking for?We want you to have extensive, substantial knowledge and understanding of housing enforcement and the regulation of HMOs. You will lead our efforts in regulating and enforcing standards in all types of rented housing including HMOs and contribute to the successful delivery of our HMO licensing schemes and safer housing functions.You will need to demonstrate that you have ability to manage a diverse caseload and undertake regulatory activities in an efficient and effective way.
