We are looking for a Compliance Manager to deliver the function across the Council's range of services.
Are you an experienced compliance professional ready to lead on landlord, building and other safety threads across a diverse property portfolio? We are looking for a Compliance Manager to help ensure the safety, integrity, and compliance of the authority's assets, including housing stock.
In this vital role, you'll lead a team of compliance officers and work collaboratively across service areas to implement robust safety strategies, ensure legislative compliance, and manage a wide range of contractor-led works. You'll be at the forefront of creating a safer Borough.
The role will require you to:
build and lead a team of, overseeing all aspects of compliance performance and improvement
shape and update safety strategies and policies in line with legislation and best practice
manage contractor performance and deliver housing compliance programmes.
providing expert advice on key areas including fire safety, asbestos, legionella, and building risk management
ensure compliance through audit, assurance, and robust reporting mechanisms.

About You
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have the following skills, knowledge, and work experience:
At least 3 years' experience in property related health & safety and compliance management.
In-depth knowledge of compliance areas including asbestos, fire safety, and legionella.
Strong leadership, analytical thinking, and contractor management skills.
Relevant qualifications such as HNC in Building Surveying, NEBOSH, and/or specialist compliance certifications.
A collaborative, inclusive, and outcomes-focused approach.
You need to be highly organised with great attention to detail and have a forward-thinking approach and you will be experienced in finding solutions to complex matters in a multi-disciplinary organisation.
You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to influence and work in partnership with stakeholders both across the council and externally, to achieve desired outcomes.
You will be proactive, flexible, conscientious, and able to embrace change. Crucially, you will also share the Council's values and respect the opinions of others, you will work with integrity and compassion and be a team player.
You will have excellent time management skills and can prioritise and organise your own and your team's workload to meet service demands and deliver a high-quality service against agreed KPIs, targets and timescales.
You will be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products and other electronic management systems, ideally NEC; you will be experienced in analysing data and producing the required reports. You will have experience of maintaining databases to record information precisely.
You will have leadership skills and be able to motivate your team to achieve optimum efficiency.
You will have experience of reporting to senior managers in both written and spoken form.
You will have experience of procuring contractors and managing them effectively.
