We\xe2\x80\x99re excited to be working with BCH Tri-Force (Beds, Cambs and Herts) where a great opportunity has arisen to join the Communications team as an engineer within the ICT Department, based at Kempston, Bedford Police HQ and will also involve working in Cambridgeshire. The Role:

The role will provide 1st & 2nd line technical and engineering support in respect of all communications services throughout Bedfordshire & Cambridgeshire. This will include, but not be exclusive to, emergency 999 & non-emergency 101 call handling solutions, Telephone exchanges, Microsoft Teams Telephony, Call processing, Call Recording, Contact Centre technologies and the Integrated Communications Control System (ICCS) used for dispatch of officers via Airwave radio to emergency and non-emergency incidents.

In providing support for critical emergency and non-emergency communication solutions, you will be working with colleagues and other ICT teams to assist Bedfordshire & Cambridgeshire Police to deliver an excellent policing service to the public.

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with an interest in telecommunications along with a good practical knowledge of IT who would like to join a dynamic team.

The post holder will ensure that the processes followed are in line with departmental policies and standards, ensuring that any disruptions to the communication services due to faults are kept to a minimum, and meeting agreed time limits or SLA\xe2\x80\x99s.

Other duties may include project work, planning and managing the installation and relocation of communications equipment throughout BCH.

After the successful completion of any probation period, the role holder will be required to participate in an on-call rota to provide out of hours support (any on call hours work will attract additional pay).

What will I need\xe2\x80\xa6?

The successful candidate will have previous practical ICT experience with knowledge of working with telephony systems and technologies. BCH Tri-Force are looking for highly motivated, innovative and flexible people who hold excellent time management skills. Good communications at all levels are also required as you will be often dealing with complex ICT issues with non-ICT staff.

Key requirements for the ICT Communications Engineer role:

  • Previous practical industry experience or educated to BTEC HND standard in a relevant subject.
  • A full UK Driving Licence (a police vehicle can be supplied if you do not have daily access to your own vehicle)
  • Experience of supporting call centre systems
  • Experience supporting IP telephony systems, moves, changes, administration.
