Commissioning Editor

United Kingdom, United Kingdom

Job Description

Are you a creative and enthusiastic individual with a passion for military history? Our well-known client, a prestigious publisher based in Oxford, is seeking a talented Commissioning Editor to join their team. This is an exceptional opportunity to shape and commission a wide range of titles across various publishing categories.

As the Commissioning Editor, you will report directly to the Editorial Director and be responsible for managing our client\'s flagship Campaign series, as well as engaging in exciting multi-contributor projects that involve evaluating artwork, maps, and diagrams. Your expertise in structural and line-editing, along with your profound interest in history, will drive the creation of captivating manuscripts that align with our client\'s vision.

To excel in this role, you should be well-versed in current trends and advancements in cover design and copy. Your commercial awareness and track record of identifying trends and maximising revenue will play a crucial role in the success of our client\'s publishing endeavours. While familiarity with Biblio or other publishing systems is advantageous, we value your ability to quickly adapt and learn new systems and processes.

Establishing and nurturing fruitful relationships with colleagues, authors, and agents is vital for this role. Your exceptional written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving abilities will contribute to maintaining the highest quality standards. As a Commissioning Editor, you will have the autonomy to work independently and make a significant impact on our client\'s publishing program.

If you are ready to shape an exciting publishing program, collaborate with talented authors and colleagues, and drive the success of our client\'s imprint, we encourage you to apply for the position of Commissioning Editor.

For a full description of the role, please send your CV with a brief paragraph outlining your relevant skills.

Closing Date: Early applications may be prioritised.
