Our Commercial Environmental Health team is essential in protecting the public\xe2\x80\x99s health and safety. We have many different kinds of establishments on our inspection list, which extend from restaurants, meat product factories, catering vans, care homes, cafes, supermarkets, motor vehicle repair, events and much more. We are responsible for assessing workplaces for compliance with food safety, health and safety, animal welfare and public health legislation, including the assessment and issuing of ratings under the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme.
As a Technical Officer you will be responsible for your own caseload, completing regulatory and advisory interventions at food and other premises to ensure compliance with legislation and good practice relating to Food Hygiene and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety and Licensing. You will carry out food sampling, deal with complaints and enquiries, carry out investigations and offer help and advice on environmental health matters. You will validate applications, inspect, monitor and offer an advisory service for animal licenses to ensure the operator is complying with the law and holds a correct license if required. You will also provide support to Environmental Health Officers on complex investigations and enforcement matters.
As an experienced Technical Officer, you would have a breadth of knowledge of key environmental health law, ensuring compliance with our policies, and best practice. You would also be suitably qualified to carry out food control interventions and animal licensing activities.
This could be an ideal career progression opportunity and therefore we would welcome applications from enthusiastic and dynamic individuals who are not qualified but have the desire to become a qualified Environmental Health Technical Officer, or perhaps you have your CIEH degree and looking for support in completing your logbook to become an environmental health practitioner in the future. You would be provided with the necessary training and opportunities to develop the required competencies and gain the necessary qualifications.
The nature of the post will require a flexible working approach, with the ability to travel around the local area and occasionally working outside what are regarded as normal hours, including weekends.
