:

The Legal Department of JPMorgan Chase & Co. seeks a lawyer based in the UK with eventual physical location in London to support its Commercial Bank in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. You will be an integral part of the Commercial Bank Legal team working closely with the regional lawyers based in EMEA, and will support lending within the Commercial Bank, with a strong focus on Acquisition & Leveraged Finance, Direct Lending and general syndicated facility agreements.

Job responsibilities

• Assisting (in accordance with policies, procedures, regulatory requirements and based on internal guidance and standard operating procedures) in the documentation, negotiation and execution of lending and loan trading transactions
• Working on group projects and initiatives
• Identifying and advising on related legal issues

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• A qualified lawyer with approximately 5 - 8 years PQE in England and Wales (qualifications in other common law jurisdiction will be viewed favorably) and relevant experience gained at an international law firm and/or leading financial institution
• Strong technical knowledge is essential and knowledge of and experience with LMA loan documentation including confidentiality agreements, term sheets, mandate letters, inter-creditor agreements, guarantees and security documents as well as LMA secondary loan documentation would be an advantage. Acquisition and leveraged finance experience would also be an advantage
• Strong drafting, negotiation and legal analytical skills with strong attention to detail
• Strong working understanding of regulatory matters affecting lending, including Brexit and Libor cessation.
• Pragmatic with ability to strike appropriate balance between achieving the commercial goals of the business while protecting the interests of JPMorgan as a whole
• Ability to manage competing priorities, project-manage and co-ordinate large projects, in a dynamic global environment
• Ability to work independently on complex lending transactions, escalating key issues where necessary
