At the heart, this is a technical accounting role, but offers so much more than dry reading of accounting standards. You will be working closely with senior financial, commercial and operational management across the organisation on ensuring transactions are accounted both commercially and in compliance with the group\xe2\x80\x99s accounting policies.

Your role will include advising on accounting for complex contracts (both new and existing), supporting finance projects across the group, assisting with ad-hoc finance analysis for senior management, drafting and reviewing technical accounting papers and papers for the Group Audit and Risk Committee, liaising with the Group\xe2\x80\x99s external auditors, and liaising with Investor Relations in respect of half year and full year results.

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll be doing:

Maintaining a strong relationship with the Capita divisions and businesses, including their sales teams, and supporting them in respect of structuring and accounting for large scale contracts (under IFRS 15), and other commercial accounting queries

Supporting the lifetime profitability review of our major contracts in advance of the half year and year end reporting

Advising on the accounting for all new contracts that go to the Group Contract Review Committee prior to contract signature

Supporting ad hoc Group Finance projects (e.g. implementation of new or amended accounting standards, business disposals or debt refinancing)

Assisting in the preparation of Audit & Risk Committee papers pertaining to financial reporting

Supporting the half year and year end external audit process \xe2\x80\x93 as a team, we lead the day-to-day relationship with the external auditors

Drafting and reviewing disclosure notes to the half year and full year financial statements \xe2\x80\x93 working with the External Financial Reporting team who prepare the financial statements

Supporting relationship with Investor Relations and preparation of financial information for external presentations, including Q&A prep for the CFO

What we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for:

You will have outstanding communication and influencing skills

Ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders and have demonstrated a track record of adding value in the workplace

Newly or Recently Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent and working within, or have recently worked in, the Audit or Accounting Advisory function of a large accounting firm

Keen to take your career to the next level, be challenged, and be part of a progressive forward-thinking organisation

You will have strong technical accounting experience

Hybrid role - Must be able to visit the London, Leeds or Sheffield office on an Adhoc basis

Past members of the team have moved on to a variety of roles, including: FD of the group sales team, FD for major contracts or businesses within the group, working on our Finance transformation programme, Senior Manager in the Investor Relations team, and after FD roles moving to being a Divisional Finance Director.
