This is a perfect opportunity for an experienced clinical Orthoptist to gain management experience with the support of a highly experienced Professional Lead.You will take on the clinical supervision and management of Orthoptists, Ophthalmic imaging technicians, visiting Orthoptic students, junior medical staff, Optometrists and Pre-registration Optometry students, Nursing staff and staff in Orthoptic led clinics.Working collaboratively and effectively with the Clinical Manager for Ophthalmology, senior managers and clinicians to contribute and to inform strategic planning and operational delivery of Orthoptic Services, including planning for workforce, training and capital.You will work with the Professional Lead for Orthoptics to manage the Orthoptic budget and be responsible for ordering equipment and consumables.We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated new member of our team to work in Herefordshire and beyond. We provide Orthoptic services in Herefordshire, Gwent, Powys and Shropshire.24 Hours per week with the potential to be a full time post if the applicant would prefer.Main duties of the jobIn addition to your managerial role you would provide a comprehensive and high quality Orthoptic service for patients referred to the Ophthalmology department and as part of the primary care team provide a vision and ocular motility service. To provide the specialist role of clinical Tutor and to be a member of the BIOS special interest group for EducationEnthusiastic and highly motivated Orthoptist to work as an autonomous practitioner to undertake highly specialised orthoptic assessment, diagnosis and management of any patients referred to the Orthoptic department. The Orthoptic department is a highly specialised department that provides comprehensive, quality and specialised Orthoptic services to the Trust as part of a multi-disciplinary Ophthalmology Team.Your orthoptic workload will be extremely varied including paediatric, ocular motility and acute cases via our busy eye casualty.
