About the Client Publishing Division

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Client Publishing department, a focus area of growth for the company. The Client team manages sales and distribution for a number of independent and international publishers, covering a hugely diverse range of genres from crime fiction to politics, poetry, mind, body, spirit, science fiction & fantasy and graphic novels. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity that will give you rounded insight into the worlds of both indie and major trade publishing.

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with strong verbal and written communication skills who can appreciate the unique needs of each of our individual Client Publishers. Reporting to the Client Publishing Director, you will provide full administrative support to the Client team, helping the department to run smoothly and to deadline. You will be a key point of contact for our Client Publishers and for any queries about them, and you will take primary responsibility for managing their title metadata and schedules. You will also work closely with the Simon & Schuster UK sales teams to ensure they have effective sales materials and samples, preparing Client sales kits, ad hoc PowerPoint presentations and internal reports. A meticulous eye for detail and strong organisational skills are vital to this role. We are looking for someone who has a positive and friendly attitude and who is always willing to offer a helping hand.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of Client Publisher title metadata and scheduling, including data entry and database maintenance, schedule change reports, and sourcing covers and sample pages.
  • Create monthly sales kits and ad hoc special-order forms for Client titles, editing sales points and AI copy if needed.
  • Manage our advance copy and sample mailouts to the sales team and customers.
  • Process event and author orders with our warehouse.
  • Run sales and inventory reports for the team as needed.
  • Work closely with our critical path, ensuring the department meets all deadlines.
Experience (essential)
  • Competency working with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook are essential.
  • You will work across a number of S&S databases so general computer literacy and confidence in picking up new computer systems is a must.
Experience (nice to have)
  • Previous experience in book publishing or book selling would help but is not essential.
  • Previous roles in office environments, sales positions or customer service would also be highly regarded.
  • Experience with Photoshop is desirable, but not essential.
