Clerk to Governing Bodies - Supply (working as and when required)
Sefton Council are currently looking to recruit three additional Clerks to Governing Bodies to join a team of supply Clerks working on a casual basis delivering high-quality professional clerking services to School Governing Bodies across Sefton Metropolitan Borough. This is an exciting opportunity to help drive forward school improvement by making a significant contribution to effective School governance.
The successful candidates will be responsible for providing a range of clerking and administrative activities associated with supporting Governing Bodies. We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic and well organised, with excellent communication and time management skills. You will need to work to strict deadlines and produce work which demands a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
The main duties will be to attend School Governing Body meetings and produce a set of minutes which are accurate and well presented, reflecting discussions and decisions made during meetings. You will be expected to work effectively with the Headteacher and Chair of Governors and be responsible for the co-ordination and of the distribution of papers for meetings. The clerk, fully supported by Sefton Governor Services, will be responsible for advising the governing body on a range of procedural issues in line with the current legislative framework. Meetings can be complex and involve sensitive issues; consequently, the need to maintain strict confidentiality is essential. Good IT skills and previous experience of minuting meetings and producing accurate minutes are also essential. All clerks will receive training for their role.
Meetings are normally held late afternoon/evening but some meetings can be held during the day. The number of Schools and meetings to be clerked is flexible and open to negotiation. School Governing body meetings normally meet once per School term but often have additional Committees meeting more frequently. We support multiple schools, across Sefton and beyond and there are plenty of opportunities available to work additional hours.
