Smawthorne Henry Moore Primary is a welcoming school where pupils feel valued. (Ofsted February 2020).
Our Vision:
Smawthorne Henry Moore Primary School will endeavour to provide excellence to all its partners; children, parents, staff, governors and the local community. At SHMPS we are a family; it is our sole intention to provide an educational home where children feel safe, nurtured and challenged. A home where they have consistent boundaries, which allows for a culture of respect, ambition and a curiosity to learn instinctively.
We strive to be placed at the centre of the Castleford community, building relationships within the locality to help our children build their own bright futures. We aim to provide opportunities and experiences that will create long lasting memories and also a pride in having been a pupil at SMHPS. We will continue to work with our parents by supporting them to create mindful citizens, equipped with core values and knowledge which will enable them to play a fundamental part in the future of Castleford\xe2\x80\x99s community.
We intend to drive improvement forwards, taking inspiration from the successes achieved so far and from the bright future that we see for our whole school family. This starts with an early education of the highest standard and this is what we aim to provide. There is nothing more important to us than supporting every child to achieve their full potential through a bespoke, varied curriculum - carefully created to meet the needs of every child. Children feeling happy and safe is the upmost important factor for learners who thrive and flourish. In our recent Ofsted inspection, where we were judged to be Good with Outstanding personal development, it was recognised that:-
\xe2\x80\x98the Headteacher and staff have developed a school curriculum that is ambitious for pupils.
\xe2\x80\x98Pupils\xe2\x80\x99 behaviour is good. Pupils feel safe in school and say there is no bullying.\xe2\x80\x99

\xe2\x80\x98The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. Keeping pupils safe is the highest priority for all staff.\xe2\x80\x99
Our school Motto, \xe2\x80\x9cIf you believe, you can achieve\xe2\x80\x9d, supports our children to believe in themselves. As part of this, we have developed our school ethos of: \xe2\x80\x9cThe Smawthorne Experience\xe2\x80\x9d where all partners are proud of our school and the experiences gained.
