How it works
We are offering an initial contract of 30 hours, with the potential for extension (up to 100 hours and beyond) based on performance. This role involves providing cleaning services at various client locations across Edinburgh, primarily serving the Chinese community. Knowledge of Chinese is not required, as all work-related communication and translation will be managed by our team.
A typical day will involve receiving details of the client's location and appointment time from us; you will then travel to the specified address to carry out cleaning duties. You may be required to visit more than one site in a day. Most client addresses are centrally located within Edinburgh, with a few situated in the surrounding areas. All locations can be reached within a 45-minute commute, and the majority are accessible within 30 minutes.
Work schedules are communicated at least one day in advance. The standard working hours are between 9:30 am and 6:00 pm; however, you will not be expected to work the full duration every day. Some days may require as little as 2 hours of work, while others may be up to 8 hours (though this is infrequent). The role includes weekend shifts, but you will receive two rest days per week.
Duties
Perform cleaning tasks in designated areas, including offices, restrooms, kitchens, and communal spaces.
Ensure that all surfaces are cleaned, dusted, and sanitised according to company standards.
Handle cleaning equipment and supplies safely and effectively.
Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.
Maintain an organised stock of cleaning materials and notify management when supplies need replenishing.
Communicate effectively with team members and clients to ensure satisfaction with cleaning services.
Go to various locations as required for cleaning assignments.
Experience
Previous experience in a cleaning role is advantageous but not essential.
Ability to communicate fluently in English to understand instructions and interact with clients.
Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanour.
A proactive attitude towards work with a keen eye for detail is essential.
