Responsible for: The Mobile Hiab Driver is responsible for ensuring the safe movement of the group's textile banks (clothing donation bins) across UK-wide locations. Compliance with health and safety standards and ensuring high service levels essential. The role requires a skilled and proactive individual who can troubleshoot issues, manage time effectively, and uphold the company's safety and operational policies.
Responsibilities:
Health, Safety, and Compliance
o Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety regulations, company policies, and risk assessments.
o Follow safe working procedures, including the correct use of PPE, COSHH, HAVS, and other relevant assessments.
o Conduct site-specific and task-based risk assessments, ensuring all hazards are identified and controlled.
o Comply with the company's road safety and driving policies, including vehicle maintenance checks, pre-use inspections, and adherence to road traffic laws.
o Proactively identify and report safety concerns, near misses, and incidents, contributing to continuous safety improvements.
Routine Operations
o Conduct regular movements of all textile banks which will include delivery/relocation and removal.
o Daily Vehicle checks/preventative maintenance.
o Identify issues with existing textile banks on site and reporting to Operations manager
o Respond promptly to service calls, ensuring minimal downtime and compliance with operational safety standards.
o Ensure all work meets safety and quality standards, following company procedures and industry regulations.
Logistics & Coordination
o Plan and execute efficient maintenance routes to service multiple textile bank locations.
o Coordinate with the operations team to schedule textile bank movements
o Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including parts used, time spent, and issues resolved.
Quality Assurance
o Ensure all textile banks are sited safely. Clean, functional, and presentable to the public.
o Report major issues or recurring problems to the supervisor for further action.
o Ensure adherence to company policies, safety regulations, and maintenance best practices.
Customer Service
o Interact professionally with site owners, council staff, and the public when on-site.
o Address any concerns or questions courteously and escalate issues when necessary.
Work Environment:
o This role involves traveling to multiple locations across England and Wales.
o Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
o Overnights sometimes required.
o Work is performed outdoors, often in varying weather conditions.
o Requires frequent bending, lifting, and standing.
o All mandatory PPE supplied.
Our must haves:
Skills
Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and repair common issues.
Hiab Experience.
Good geographical knowledge of the UK
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and plan efficient routes.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records of activities.
Basic computer/personal device skills.
Experience and Qualifications
GCSEs or equivalent; technical certification or training in maintenance, metalworks, or related fields is a plus.
Proven experience in Hiab operations.
Category C (LGV2) Licence (Essential)
Valid Drivers CPC (Essential)
Valid Digital Tachograph card (Essential)
Valid HIAB accreditation (Essential)
Forklift Licence (desirable).
