We are seeking a Deputy Manager who shares our passion for making a positive impact on the lives of young people. As a key leader in one of our residential homes, you'll work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure that our home is a place of love, learning, and empowerment for children with Emotional and Behavioural Disorders (EBD) or Learning Disabilities (LD).

Your Role in Transforming Lives



As the Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in leading the home and ensuring it operates smoothly and efficiently. Your leadership, compassion, and commitment will help create a nurturing and safe environment for young people, ensuring they receive the highest standard of care and support.

Key Responsibilities



Leadership and Team Support:



Work alongside the Registered Manager to provide strong leadership, creating a positive, structured environment where young people feel safe and supported. Be a visible and proactive leader, supporting and mentoring staff to deliver outstanding care tailored to the individual needs of each young person in accordance with Statement of Purpose. Foster a culture of respect, trust, and belonging, building strong relationships with children and staff alike. Assist in leading team meetings, supervision, and training to ensure the staff are well-prepared to meet the needs of the children in their care. Participate in the on call duty rota.

Individualised Care:



Support in creating and maintaining personalised care plans that address each young person's specific needs and goals. Assist in guiding the emotional, educational, and social development of young people, helping them build confidence, positive behaviours, and resilience. Ensure the home is a safe, welcoming space where children can thrive regardless of their background or challenges.

Compliance and Safeguarding:



Ensure all care practices in the home meet Ofsted standards and comply with Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards. Maintain a focus on safeguarding, ensuring all staff are fully trained and confident in safeguarding policies and procedures. Assist the Registered Manager in preparing for Ofsted inspections and ensuring the home operates to the highest standards of care and safety.

Operational Support:



Assist in managing the day-to-day running of the home, including overseeing staff rotas, ensuring resources are managed effectively, and supporting with compliance and administrative duties. Support with the recruitment, induction, and ongoing development of staff, ensuring the team has the skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care. Build positive relationships with external partners, including families, social workers, and education professionals, to support the best outcomes for young people.

Who You Are:



Essential Skills and Experience:



A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent (working towards or willingness to work towards Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care). A minimum of 3 years of experience working in a children's residential care setting, with proven experience supporting young people with EBD and/or LD. At least 1 year must be in a leadership capacity. A strong understanding of Children's Homes Regulations, the SCCIF, Quality Standards, and safeguarding practices. Knowledge of Ofsted regulations and the inspection process. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with young people, staff, and external agencies. A commitment to providing high-quality care and promoting the well-being and development of children. A full UK driving license.

Desirable Qualities:



Experience working with trauma-informed care practices.
