We are looking for a passionate and experienced Ofsted Registered Manager to lead our children's home, providing high-quality care and support to young people aged 8 to 18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH). You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the home's operations, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment where every young person can grow, heal, and thrive.
This is a vital leadership role for someone who is proactive, resilient, and committed to achieving the best outcomes for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:
Manage the day-to-day running of the children's home in line with relevant regulations and best practice standards.
Inspire, lead, and support a team of care staff to deliver consistent, child-centred care.
Create a positive, open culture focused on continuous improvement, learning, and therapeutic care.
Care Planning and Delivery:
Develop, implement, and regularly review personalised care plans that address each child's emotional, social, educational, and developmental needs.
Foster a safe, stable, and nurturing environment that promotes healing, resilience, and independence.
Support young people to develop life skills, confidence, and prepare for successful transitions into adulthood.
Safeguarding and Compliance:
Ensure the home meets and exceeds standards set by Children's Homes Regulations and safeguarding frameworks.
Take full responsibility for child protection and safeguarding practices, promptly responding to and investigating concerns.
Conduct regular audits and quality assurance checks to maintain excellence in care and compliance.
Working in Partnership:
Build and maintain strong relationships with social workers, schools, therapists, healthcare professionals, and families.
Work collaboratively with external agencies to create holistic and joined-up support for each child.
Represent the home at professional meetings and reviews, advocating effectively for the young people.
Operational and Administrative Duties:
Manage budgets, staffing rotas, and resources efficiently to ensure smooth service delivery.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and reports in line with regulatory requirements.
Oversee staff training and professional development, ensuring a skilled, motivated, and safeguarding-aware workforce.
Key Skills and Qualities:
Strong experience supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs
Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
Sound knowledge of safeguarding legislation,
Children's Homes Regulations
, and inspection frameworks (Ofsted).
Skilled in designing and delivering individualised care and support plans.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to remain calm under pressure, with a solution-focused approach to challenges.
Understanding of trauma-informed care and therapeutic approaches.
Requirements:
Minimum of
2 years' experience
in a leadership role within children's residential care or a similar setting.
Level 5 Diploma
in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent qualification).
Comprehensive understanding of safeguarding policies and the legal responsibilities of a Registered Manager.
Experience working with children and young people with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs needs.
Additional training in therapeutic or trauma-informed care approaches is highly desirable.
