Chief Human Resources Officer

Location: Hybrid/West Midlands (office 2 days/week + working from home + travelling to sites)

Salary: \xc2\xa3120-150,000 + car allowance + bonus + executive benefits

The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) is accountable for driving results in a fast-paced environment by establishing and cultivating a work environment that attracts, motivates and retains the best human capital available. As a member of the executive management team, the CHRO will provide the leadership in driving excellence in human resources initiatives that support our Client\'s strategic plans. The Chief Human Resources Officer reports directly to the CEO, is a member of and will work closely with members of the C-Suite and the Board of Directors to help set vision and leadership for all Human Resources components toward the elevation of a dynamic, inclusive, and equitable organisational culture and position the company as \xe2\x80\x9cBest-in-Class\xe2\x80\x9d employer of choice.

Leads a team of approximately 12 direct reports, with a broader team of 36.

The role:

  • Partners with CEO and Executive Leadership team to review business strategies and priorities and aligns people resources to execute strategies.
  • Guides HR reporting and analytics that will drive business decisions including monitoring and reporting of appropriate metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Leverages best practices to recommend, amend, and drive improvement to human resources systems, policies, processes and ensures scalable service delivery.
  • Creates and provides overall leadership and guidance to the HR function by overseeing talent acquisition, career development, succession planning, communication, retention, training, leadership development, compensation and benefits.
  • Establishes goals for the HR team to continually optimise processes and deliver on objectives; establish and implement short and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures.
  • Oversees all elements of HR technology
  • Develops and manages annual budget for department and performs periodic cost and productivity analyses.
  • Oversees talent management initiatives to identify, assess, develop, engage, and reward high performing and high potential talent and ensure development strategies are in place to build capability necessary for future leaders of the business.
  • Fosters a flexible workforce strategy that identifies current gap areas and develops plans to acquire, grow, and develop talent to meet current and future needs.
  • Coordinates initiatives to achieve diversity goals and takes steps toward fostering an inclusive culture .
  • Drives the performance management process to ensure clarity of goals and expectations for business results, aligns performance with rewards, and drives a culture of accountability for results.
  • Evaluates current reward plans and recommend changes and enhancements to include insurance, paid-time-off, leave management, and wellness benefits.
  • Promotes modern and effective total reward programs aligned with the size and profitability of the organisation.
  • Ensures that HR develops and implements comprehensive compensation and benefits plans that are competitive and cost-effective.
  • Oversees the design and development of a high-performance compensation strategy and programs, with a focus on pay for performance.
  • Participates in the investigation and resolution of employee concerns and complaints in coordination with the HR team.
  • Partners with Legal to ensure specialised or sensitive issues are resolved in compliance with law
  • Leads the HR team including maintaining and developing staff, managing budget, and providing quality HR customer service for all employees.
  • Demonstrates strong HR leadership in a fast-paced business environment with a focus on change management and organisational/leadership development.
  • Draws upon best practices and ensures that policy creation is in alignment with the company\'s vision.
  • Oversees implementation planning for the launch of all human resources policies.
  • Directs a process of organisational planning that evaluates structure, job design and workforce forecasting throughout the company to ensure succession planning.
  • Drives change management initiatives to accelerate workforce around goals and priorities and instill a \xe2\x80\x9cOne Company\xe2\x80\x9d culture.
  • Manages internal communication cadence for town halls, DE&I initiatives, and company-wide announcements.
  • Oversees learning and development strategies to ensure employees grow during their career and are able to meet the needs of our internal and external clients.
  • Promotes organisation\'s values, behaviours and diversity to develop and energise a work environment that drives productivity, attracts and retains talent.
  • Serves as an ambassador for effective leadership and employee development at all levels. Will help to develop and retain high potential talent.
  • Works with the company\'s executive management team to establish a sound plan of management succession that corresponds to the strategy and objectives of the company.
  • Ensures that HR develops and implements comprehensive strategic recruiting and retention plans to meet the human capital needs of strategic goals.
  • Protects the interests of the company and employees in accordance with company HR policies and UK legal frameworks
  • Maintains and enhances corporate compliance and ethics policies, procedures and programs. Investigates and resolves compliance violations.
  • Adheres to all company SOPs and policies.
  • Attracts, develops, and retains a high performing team to meet the current and evolving needs of the business through effective selection, training and development, coaching and mentoring and performance management.
The person:
  • Degree qualified, or equivalent
  • Progressive HR leadership experience in a multi-site manufacturing, logistics, automotive, aerospace, utilities or FMCG organisation
  • Must have operated in the number one role previously
  • Experience of leading all HR related functions including generalist HR, Talent, Organisation Design, Talent Acquisition, Learning & development, Internal Communications, Reward, HRIS, Payroll, Pensions & People analytics, people change and transformation

  • Strong background in HR policy and practice with emphasis in employee relations.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading organisations through significant change.
